Yesterday, the 2014a edition of the DICOM standard has been made available. This is the first time, the standard has been updated directly after a meeting of the Working Group 6 (WG-06). Compared to the previous edition from April this year, 3 supplements and 43 correction items (CPs) have been incorporated. The next edition (“2014b”) will probably be published after the WG-06 has met again in September and released the supplements and CPs that were approved by the DICOM committee as “final text”. Today, a new development snapshot of the DCMTK has been made available. This is the eleventh snapshot after the official release of version 3.6.0. As always, we have updated the code for the latest changes to the DICOM standard. This time, major parts of the data dictionary have been generated automatically based on the machine-readable DocBook version of Part 6 and 7 of the DICOM 2013 standard. In addition, all recently approved final text Supplements and CPs have been added manually. Due to this semi-automatic process, the old ACR/NEMA tag definitions have been outsourced into a separate data dictionary file. Continue reading
A couple of days ago, the 2013 edition of the DICOM standard has been made available. The standard still consists of 20 parts and has almost the same number of pages as the previous edition. However, this does not mean that nothing has changed. On the contrary: altogether 11 supplements and 187 correction items have been incorporated. Also the standard text has been converted to DocBook XML and all other formats (like PDF or HTML) are rendered from it. Continue reading
